Tentative Schedule: Ongoing through December 2010

New sewer installation and structure construction continues along Lafayette Road between 16th and 19th streets. Lane restrictions are expected to continue until December, with one lane of traffic open in each direction at all times.

The new relief sewer is also being installed across from Reverend Mozel Sanders Park. Tunnel shaft construction is underway at the intersection of Miley Avenue and 10th Street. Tunneling under Miley Avenue from Reverend Mozel Sanders Park to 10th Street will be performed during September. Tenth Street at Miley Avenue is scheduled to be closed until late October.

Section 2:         19th Street/Lafayette Road to 2700 Cold Spring Road

Tentative Schedule: Complete

Section 2 relief sewer installation is complete. Permanent pavement striping, including bike lanes, was completed along Cold Spring Road in August. Final pavement striping along Lafayette Road north of 19th Street will be included in the Section 1 project pavement restoration, which will be completed in spring 2011.

Section 3:         2700 Cold Spring Road to Grandview Drive/Fox Hill Drive

Tentative Schedule: Ongoing through December 2011

Merryman Excavation will continue the Septic Tank Elimination Program (STEP) and storm water improvements at 59th Street and Grandview Drive through September with minimal clean-up work and adjustments to be made once the force main sewer is installed in that area.

The contractor completed the pipe installation and road paving along North White River Parkway West Drive from 30th Street to 38th Street. The contractor is expected to continue force main sewer installation north of 38th Street on North White River Parkway West Drive up to 44th Street during September. In addition, sewer construction is underway heading south on Cold Spring Road from 30th Street and is expected to be complete in early to mid-September.

Grading and final restoration along 30th Street and the multipurpose path is complete. Road reconstruction is complete on 51st Street and Grandview Drive, up to 52nd Street with minor restoration to be completed. Force main sewer construction will continue along Grandview Drive during September and October. DPW anticipates that the boring work under Kessler Boulevard will be completed in early September.

Roads will be closed to through traffic and residents may have limited access in and out of their driveways at certain times in these construction areas.

The contractor is expected to complete Section 3 by December 2011.

Section 4:        Juan Solomon Park lift station and Coffin Golf Course flow transition building

Tentative Schedule: Ongoing through October 2011

FA Wilhelm Construction Company continues dewatering, or lowering the groundwater level, in support of the mass excavation required to construct the lift station. Currently the contractor has completed 90 percent of the excavation and has completed installation of the retaining walls. The contractor poured the “mud mat,” which is a concrete foundation from which the contractors will work while completing underground work.

On or after September 17, the park is scheduled to be closed for approximately 24 hours of additional concrete work.

The contractor has also relocated the picnic shelter onto its new foundation. Juan Solomon Park remains open for tennis and field activities with an area for public parking being maintained.

Work at Coffin Golf Course is scheduled to begin on or after Oct. 1, and the contractor is close to obtaining the well field permit for this job site.
